I'll get flamed for this but ... it makes me laugh to think that I'd need a cam on the back of my Spyder. When that day comes, I'll stop riding and solely drive my car, without backup cam even with neck problems including cervical fusion. But you guys do you. Just sayin

I won't "flame" you, but I will say you could take 60 seconds to put yourself in someone else's shoes. For me, the large rear trunk is a sight-line obstacle that makes backing into the garage more challenging than it needs to be. That's my use case.

But you do you, boo.

I get what you’re saying, but for me it’s getting a very inexpensive accessory for cheap. PLUS, I have something on my bike that wasn’t to be….
Most importanty, my garage is tight & I can’t see around the rear seat and saddlebags. In my garage inches matter. It seriously makes a difference in the last foot or 2 in a tight space. Wish I had more room but it is what it is.

Was mine necessary....no. Especially for the OEM price of the camera. But for the $50 I spent to add it, it's nice to have. And just something to prove it could be done. And I actually use it a lot more than I thought I would, especially when I have a passenger.

It actually worked out perfect for a stop point, at the very bottom of my screen is a couple inches from hitting anything.

I'm curious to know what you used to convert the RCA output to the wired input of the can am connector. Adapter or did you strip the wire with RCA cable that goes to the front that came with the kit and solder on two wires?

I soldered a paper clip to the camera wire and pushed it into the plug on the Spyder. You only use the center wire from the rca cable. The other wire is a ground that you don’t use.

While installing a bunch of lights on my 2024 RTL, I found the connector in the attached photos on the left rear brace. It has 3 wires - black for ground, red for power, and orange for what I assume is the video feed from the camera to the instrument panel.

I put a voltage tester across black and red with the ignition on - no power. Then I put the bike in reverse and got +12 volts on red. So this is obviously the connection for the camera.

I'm waiting for someone to get the cameras into stock and will let everyone know how it works once I get my hands on one.
What has to be removed in order to access that connector?

Rear seat.

On the left side - passenger armrest if you have one, small panel under armrest, bolt and nut at bottom front of saddlebag, pushpins inside the saddlebag.

Once those are off, the panel pulls away from the bike and the connector is accessible above the taillight connectors.

Would it be possible for you to post a photo of the area where the panel is located? I've read the description and looked at the three close up photos and am unsure of what panel gives me access to the connector. I have a 2024 Sea to Sky with the trunk install if that helps.

it seems you are saying to remove the panel under the left passenger armrest. I have the original heated handles and armrests. The panel I see under them seems to extend all the way to the back of the saddle bag and I don't seem to have a bolt and nut at the front. I have no Pushpins inside my saddlebag either.

Thank you for all your research and instructions. Sorry, I must seem like a ditz.

Check out the video here - it shows how to remove the panel to get access to the light connections behind the left saddlebag-
Can-Am Spyder RT Afterburner Run / Brake / Turn Signal Tail Lights (2020+) (Gen 2)

The camera connector is above the connectors for the taillights.

You are correct - there are no pushpins; they are Torx screws. Follow the directions in the video to remove them and don't forget the bolt and nut at the lower front of the saddlebag.

Take your time and don't force anything. I've had mine apart many times for light upgrades.

Good Info, Thanks!

The 3 pin connector that has been discussed previously near the left rear light IS the connector for the camera.

Here are pics of mine.

The male end with end cap plugs is attached to the female end with the wires.

Here is a clip from the maintenance manual of the pinout. I also verified with a voltmeter.

Also, here you can see the Camera (-) eventually goes to ground.

So I connected the cameras - and power - to Camera (-), the cameras power + to Backup Light / 12V Cam , and the cameras signal to Camera (S).

Turned on the Backup Camera in the software and put it in Reverse and the camera image displayed on the screen.

Since this wasn’t the OEM camera, I’m not sure the backup lines mean much.

Also, I’m waiting on some terminal connectors so I can use the existing male end rather than wait 2-4 weeks to get one from Amazon.

Finally, still trying to decide it I will use this camera or buy another one and where to mount it….but at least it works.

Once I get everything finished, I'll post again.
How did you access the wires? I unscrewed to top but how did you pull the wires out? My access is lik 2”.

How do you get three wires from the backup camera? There are only two rca type plugs so where is the third wire come from? Thanks

There needs to be three As you need the black for ground, red for activation in reverse and yellow for the monitor. You might need a different camera. Do you have any idea how to feed the wires from the license plate area through the light to the connector? Or how to free the connector from its housing?

I only see cameras with two wires, even the ones used by members. Just don’t see where the third wire comes from

the camera I have has 1 black wire from the camera, a red connection point that when taken apart has 4 prong connections, then a black connection point. I inserted a different wire from the box to connect that and from that point it splits in three: yellow is shorter length, red open wire end and black with terminal connector. I believe I will need to strip the ends and crimp the pins mentioned to put all three in the connector above the brake. Now just trying to figure out how to feed the wires.
