Helmet storage???

Let me preface with, I did my best to search the forum first before asking what seems to me like a common question for Spyder newbs! :)

The dealer that I bought the Spyder from assured me that 2 full face helmets will fit I the front truck. I have a typical Shoei and the hubs has a HJC. Nothing crazy or special about them. I have tried every way I know how to get them to fit and have had ZERO luck! Has anyone had it work for them???

I'm also assuming you need a license like you would with the two wheel bike. I have mine but my husband doesn't. I drove us through a check point bc he didn't want a ticket for no license. :D Is this a correct assumption?

the dealers who say that are full of sh*t

there are certain full face helmets (ZOX for one) that will fit 2 in the frunk but most won't

they will also tell you that you can put one in the RH saddle bag.. again only certain brands/types can fit

Hi Heather,
We have found that you can easily fit ONE full-face helmet in the frunk...
And another in the right side rear storage...:D
(Lay it on it's right side; bottom end toward the bike.)
Licensing: that's a question that you'll have to answer for your Home State...

In Idaho you get what is called an "M" or "T" endorsement added to your regular licience that allows you to operate two wheeled vehicles over 50cc. You either have to pass the state operator test or take and pass the stars program. Our state has a trike program which is good because I think it would be nearly impossible to pass the state motorcycle test on a Spyder.

I am assuming that when I finished the Stars trike program and took the certificate into the DMV they didn't know what they were doing because I have the "M" endorsement on my licience. I didn't bother to ask them to correct it.

Depending on your states rules your husband should be able to get a permit and then take whatever state sponsered training program.

Encountered this problem shortly after I purchased my RS and took sweetie for a ride. Fortunately my full face and the half face fit, but not a bit of room for anything but air after that.

I've had an M endorsement on my license for many years, and have been fortunate that various states and protectorates have honored and transferred it as I moved around when I was active duty. The beauty part, at least in my case, is, once you get it, you never have to worry about it again.

That is a handy link Bob! :)

As to endorsements: I live just a few miles from you (Maryville, TN) and the Spyder in the state of Tennessee is treated as any other motorcycle. You need an "M" endorsement on your DL. A person can obtain it one of two ways. First by taking a motorcycle safety course (2 days). Take the completion certificate to the DMV and you will be given the M endorsement and you do not have to take any tests, written or road. The other way is go the DMV, take a written test and if you pass it you then make an appointment for the road test. On that day and time you show up with the motorcycle of your choosing and take the road test. In most locations that means showing the examiner you know how the machine works and then ride around the block while the examiner stands on the sidewalk and watches. The examiner will do a safety inspection before you take the test (lights etc). As to helmets in the frunk - only 1 full face will fit. I think you have an RS without bags so that is a none issue with you.
