Sorry, it was sold back in July, so it's gone now. It seemed high to me at eight or nine thousand? Their web site is http://motorcyclesports.biz/, Chris and Mark were listed in the ad as contacts, I'm sure if you call them, they'll remember the selling price. 256/831-6495.

Yeah, that's higher than what I would have given. I sent an e-mail, but didn't realize it was already sold. If it's gone already, price is irrelevant. I would have probably given $5-6,000, but at $8-9K, you can just about get one that isn't wrecked.
If anyone knows of one, even with a salvage title,I am looking for one for a shop project. Preferably damaged in the front like the one in the pic......damaged in the rear would depend.

hmmmmm, this sounds interesting... are you looking to use the Spyder drive-train for something you "sit in", rather then "sit on"?

I'm getting ready to produce a reverse 3 wheeler, it is basicly a sidecar on the front. It will adapt to virtually any cycle and then back again within a few hours. I patented it several years ago,but since I finance everything myself, the timing wasn't favorable. But it is now getting that way. It is called a removable forecab.
I thought that the Spyder front suspension might make a nice pattern. If I get one I'd also use the powertrain. I have 2 pre-production models I am finishing, one side by side for bigger bikes and one with front /rear seating for smaller ones. The prototype steered kind of heavy and I wasn't happy with it. Because the Spyder is about the same weight and layout( although the forecab is longer overall), I thought that the steering ratio might be what I need. Without the dps though. It's like the T-rex, but more affordable and adaptable to any motorcycle if the owner wants to change.

Wow, sounds very interesting. So to make sure I got it right, the driver would still sit on the "motorcycle portion", and one or two "passengers" would sit in the front part side by side?

Is this your patent? Removeable forecab for motorcycles - Google Patent Search
You will actually sit inside the "cab" and control it from there. The powertrain would be covered and there are 2 storage pods on either side of the engine and behind the seats. there is also a small front trunk. It was an offshoot of sidecar work I was doing. After several flexy car designs and other attempts to make a sidecar more"uniform" in it's handling I finally arrived at the reverse trike set-up. A long time friend worked on the original Vetter terraplane when he was in the engineering dept.there. Yes, that's my patent.

That sounds like a perfect vehicle, do you have any pics of your prototypes??

I think it is. I'm sure I have a bunch of pics, I'll have to go through some of the pics from before digital, but I took plenty of pics along the way. Development on the scale of an individual is even more costly than on a major scale, so I wanted to keep all permutations in case I thought I needed to revert back from where I was heading. I even have one of it being burned after I stripped all the usable hardware from it. I labeled it "UFO burning from friction created when entering the earth's atmosphere". It is wedge shaped and when it was naked of all the hardware looked very "alien". You know..not plain like a Spyder,LOL.

Toooo funny. I look forward to pics. The more I think about it, the more I like this idea. I've pondered a T-Rex for a while, but it was just to expensive, then they went bankrupt, now the kit costs more than the complete unit used to cost!. This idea seems the best of all worlds to me. With a Spyder as the mechanical base, you get reverse and the rest of it's quality drive train. Now with foam and fiberglass, it can be more rounded/stylin' if you choose.

It was being ridden from the paint shop (only a few days after picking it up brand new) when the rider hit a deer at 60MPH. Rider stayed on and had a cut hand - deer was totaled. All the details were posted on other forums. It looked pretty bad when I saw the photos many months ago - covered in blood and deer fur etc.
