Wher to take the bumps if you have to?

Currently they have our town all torn up putting in gas and water mains. What a mess to say the least.
The trenches are in the center of my riding lane. The only way out is to ride in the opposing lane and that’s not too safe.
When I ride in my lane I have the rear tire rumbling on the uneven / half assed bumpy blacktop job they did.
I can either straddle my lane with the back wheel getting all the bumps or move over and let 1 of the front wheels take the abuse.
i have chosen to let the rear tire take the uneven surface and center my can-am RTL in my lane.
My thought is the rear tire is riding on air so I shouldn’t be hurting anything. There could be some issues if I constantly ride with the front wheel taking the abuse. Like alignment and ball joint failures.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the decision to ride in centered in my lane? The front wheels are riding on the original blacktop that is smooth.
