I am in China this week on business (Beijing and South), this place is a three-wheeled wonderland. I've started to take pictures, and will begin posting them this evening...... it is unfathomable the variations of three wheelers here. They range from pedal powered, single cylinder diesel, motorcycle based, and even battery powered electric carts on the one extreme, to tiny four passenger "almost" automobile's on the other extreme. I have not seen anything Spyder like yet (two wheels up front), but it would not surprise me if I did.

Have any of you ever been to China?

People Powered Three Wheelers

OK, here is a standard example of a three-wheeled people powered pickup truck:

Here is the personal vehicle variation (chain tensioner option was not purchased):

What amazes me most about Beijing is the total chaos, you are at an intersection.... cars, buses, scooters, bikes, pedestrians all entering this sort of "intersection soup" and then all somehow manage to emerge on the other side unscathed. Very impressive.

Stoplights seem to be more for reference and each intersection has two fellows waving red flags to try and control the me-le' (agian, they seem more for reference).

Another interesting item, the street sweepers, really ARE street sweepers they walk and sweep the streets with big thatch brooms.

Fancier

I was not able to get very many pics of the more truck-like three wheelers because they are not allowed in the center. This is the best I could do:

These are around as all sorts of configurations, flat beds, dump trucks, etc.

These are pretty neat little rigs:

This one caught me by surprize, the most motorcycle three wheeler so far:

Most car like

This is the most car-like three-wheeler I came across. Found a bunch of them in a city south of Beijing, Jou Long (?) This is an older model, one cylinder with shaft drive and a real differential! The newer models actially look pretty nice with modern headlights and all. I was told the price new is about 7000 RmB ($1000 U.S.)

Only Spyder I saw was copy Spyder brand ski-wear in the markets.

I did see a few other things, this place is amazing:

Walked as far as I could..... got stopped at the end :)
