SPYDER RYDERS WELCOMED HOME
After 10 years in the making, BRP has begun waving bittersweet goodbyes to their newborn Spyders as they roll off the assembly line. As proud parents, BRP would like to bring their roadsters back home and host Spyder Ryders (and the Spyders of course) to The Inaugural Valcourt Homecoming Owners Event in Valcourt, QC, Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, 2008.

Spyder Ryders have the option to gather at one of five different locations on June 6th and ride together to Valcourt – one of which is the 2008 Americade Motorcycle event in Lake George, NY. Various events are planned throughout the two day experience including a BBQ with BRP CEO José Boisjoli and other executives, a special Spyder Factory tour and a tour of the world-renowned J.A. Bombardier Museum.

The link below includes a document with the event itinerary, route map, event waiver, hotel and contact information and the registration form. Owners interested in participating must formally register by submitting the registration form and event waiver to BRP. Only those registered will be allowed to take part in the BRP sponsored events.

Take this opportunity to visit where your Spyder was designed and built!

We look forward to meeting you all in Valcourt!

INAUGURAL HOMECOMING OWNERS EVENT UPDATE

Greetings SpyderRyders!

Only one week until the Inaugural Homecoming Owners Event in Valcourt, QC, and we can't wait to see all of you here!

We're expecting close to 300 ryders aboard more than 200 Can-Am Spyder roadsters. What a sight that will be in the small yet iconic town of Valcourt, QC!

Here are a few key reminders as you plan your trip:

For American citizens, please find the following entry requirements into Canada:
If U.S. citizen travelers to Canada do not have a passport or approved alternate document such as a NEXUS card, they must show a government-issued photo ID (e.g. driver’s license) and proof of U.S. citizenship such
as a U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate or expired U.S. passport. More information at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1082.html. You will also find important information regarding driving in Canada and information regarding travelers who have a DWI record.

Canada uses the metric system. 100 Km/Hr = 62 MPH. You can switch your Spyder's gauge cluster to metric by pressing and holding the SET button.

Exchange rates are nearly at par. Currently, one U.S. Dollar = 0.989 Canadian Dollars. The easiest way to secure Canadian currency is to use an ATM on the Canadian side of the border.

We have created a dedicated hotline for Homecoming participants during the event only (Thursday, June 5 to Saturday, June 7). If you need assistance, information, etc. please call the exclusive SpyderRyder Homecoming Hotline at 450-532-5024. A member of the Spyder Team will assist you.

Normal temperatures in the Valcourt area vary between a low of 9C (48F) and a high of 22C (72F) in early June. The average daily high is 16C (61F). For the latest weather forecast, visit http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caqc0770.

A BRP representative will be at each gathering point on June 6 to help organize the ride and answer any questions. The departure times are:

* Lake George, NY 6:30 AM
* Plattsburgh, NY 9:00 AM
* Brossard, QC 10:30 AM
* Drummondville, QC 11:30 AM
* Arrival in Valcourt is 1:00 PM

Upon arriving in Valcourt, an exclusive parking area will be designated for SpyderRyders. Furthermore, a dedicated portion will be designated for "customized" Spyder roadsters. This will allow everyone to admire the custom paint jobs and personalization in one area.

We invite all SpyderRyders to document their trip and to take a lot of digital photos! You can then become a guest blogger on www.spyderryder.com to share your road trip and experience in Valcourt. Keep a journal handy! Photos are allowed in Valcourt, except in the Spyder factory; however, to document the experience, we will have a photographer onsite and approved photos of the production line will be available to download on SpyderRyder.com after the event. After the event, we will invite guest bloggers to tell us their Homecoming stories on www.spyderryder.com

If your dinner plans for Friday night have changed, please send us an e-mail at [email protected]. We have compiled, through the registrations, the current attendance at the Friday evening dinner at Château Bromont in Bromont, QC.

If your breakfast / museum plans for Saturday morning have changed, please send us an e-mail at [email protected]. We have compiled, through the registrations, the current attendance for the Saturday morning breakfast and J.A. Bombardier Museum tour.

Enjoy your trip to Valcourt – Ryde Safe!

See you soon,

The Spyder Team

Homecoming has begun

Like any good Spyder trip.... the first stop was at my local dealer :)

Since my Spyder will not be here for a bit.... I flew into Albany NY, and drove to Lake George. :(

For those that are not familiar with this area, upstate NY is gorgeous, and Americade is a giant event. I lived in Albany in the mid-80's, it is still one of my favorite places, on weekends during the summer we'd sail and boat on the lakes, and in the winter all the great Vermont ski areas were only a couple of hours away.

I saw four Spyders as I rolled up to the first stop light, of course the camera was in the trunk. I snapped this one while it was getting dark, so it is a bit blurry. So far I have seen two yellows, and seven silvers. The fellow standing next to me while I was watching everone cruising said if I was there a half hour earlier a group of eight went by with several wearing custom paint... he said noe was purple(?) must be from Minnesota and be a Vikings fan!

I should have a bunch of pictures to post tomorrow from the ride, BBQ, and dinner. It will be a "longest day" type event with the start at 6AM.... and dinner ending in the wee hours no-doubt.
