Speedometer Accuracy Issues

362 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  RedSpyder22
Hi All, I just got my first Spyder, a 2019 F3 Limited last week and riding over the weekend I had an app up on my phone that shows your speed. I have found this app to be very accurate in the past and I noticed it was not matching my Can-Am speedometer.

When the Can-Am was showing 68 mph the app was showing 64 mph. That 4 mph variance seemed fairly consistent at highway speeds. Is there a known issue with the Can-AM speedometers, and if so is there a fix?

Thank you,
James

It is not really an "Issue" nor is it something that you need to "fix".

The calibration is done that way more or less on purpose so that wear or changing tire size
will not result in a reading that is SLOWER than you really are going........which might result in a ticket.

They are mostly ALL like that. Cars and trucks too.
James, this is a know issue on most Spyders. On My 17RTL the speedometer is always 2mph faster than the
speed showing on my GPS at highway speeds. Nothing to worry about just something to keep in mind whiłe riding.
Ryde safe and have fun while Ryding

Every other vehicle I own has a very accurate speedometer. So not all cars and trucks to0.

Artie, Thank you. I assumed that was the case. I can adjust to compensate as needed.

Well you are lucky in that respect I guess.

I have driven literally hundreds of vehicles in my lifetime and
don't remember ANY of them having a speedometer that
would be considered "very accurate".

As a result, I don't worry about it.

I find the ALL motorcycle speedometers are off. I go by the navigation app, which tells me.

I have a 2022 Spyder RTL and I have gone thru several radar speed signs and they all show me going 1 mph slower than my speedometer shows.
