Hi all. Has anybody figured out how to defeat the stupid safety message that will not let you start the Spyder untill you acknowlege it? Like I am going to pull out and read the safety card every time I ride......RIGHT?

You don't need to pull out the card. Just push the M button and you're good to go.

Thanks Bruce, but that was satire about the card. The card went in the trash when I had the dash apart for the fog light install. I am looking for a way to avoid having to clear the message every time.

"Safety" Issues

Sorry bro, it's often hard to tell on these forums when someone is kidding. To answer your question, I haven't heard of anyone who has been able to defeat the system. I suspect even trying would throw a major monkey wrench into the works, but then I'm no computer geek or electrical engineer. It is a bit annoying, almost like it was designed by some bureaucrat from the Department of Being Safe at All Times.

Cheers,

Bruce

Official Answer

I got an official answer:

"No, we always replicate safety message. We don't play with Safety aspect. We want to make sure all riders acknowledge before each ride."

Like they used to say at the beginning of "Hill Street Blues":

"Be safe out there"

It is stil a pain waiting for the stupid message to scroll before I can leave. Also, 2333 will not let me clear the message before it has scrolled, and I some times have to push the M button a half a dozen or more times before it will clear.

Safety message

I noticed occasionally for what ever reason if I push the starter button while its booting up, it starts before the notice comes on. I am still trying to figure out the circumstances or what goes right but I will keep trying to pay attention. I have had it happen from a cold start first start in the morning and more often after a hot start say running in an out of the store or something. and it doesn't seem to happen every time and I haven't been able to notice what I do differently, but I will keep trying to figure it out.

It seems to me that there is a probably safety issue where it doesn't the computer doesn't time out and reset to ask for the safety acknowledgement for a while after it has been running. This would be important if one were to stall the bike. Could be really dangerous to not be able to just hit the starter and go:eek:

If you restart the Spyder within about 5 minutes of shutting it down, you can do so without waiting for the screen to boot up.

If you stopped the engine with the kill switch, there is no reboot needed if you never turned off the ignition, same if the engine stalled out for some reason.
