I'm the safety "officer" for our Spyder rider group, and I'm always on the hunt for safety concerns associated with Can Ams or just riding in general.....I'd appreciate any input you folks can offer

Safety…
1) Under hard braking, the front suspension compresses, the simple go kart steering design, induced with bump steer toe out, will cause untypical toe out of both front wheels. This can result in a rapid oscilation, left / right, right / left of the front end, without any steering input by the rider.

The concern is less likely with improved front springs or shocks, or more commonly, excessive toe in During an alignment. Sadly, the excessive toe in results in tire scrub, reducing mpg, and wears tires more quickly.

2) Many owners install a larger brake pedal foot pad. In some installations, this can render the brakes less effective during hard or emergency stops. Very important safety item for group rides. Owners should be advised, or taught about how Can Am designed a right side drop away floor board on some models, allowing additional brake pedal travel for emergency stops.
The large aftermarket foot perch can negate that safety feature.
