As some of you may know I just bought a new 2009 RS.. I have done alot of reading on here an another site.. I came across a post about a POWER BAND.. I cant seen to find it anymore.. Anyway my question is .. What is the power band??? I know I use to have a 2 stoke dirt bike.. It had the power band, but I didnt know a 4 stroke engine had this.. Maybe they were talking about something else... Thanks for any info....

Any gas engine has a "sweet spot" where it makes its power. Two strokes are famous for theirs, but four strokes can also be tuned via camshaft profiles and their intake and exhaust sytems... The Rotax 990 and 991 engines like to rev... they like to spin at 5000rpm and better... you can really feel them come alive up there! The 990 (RS/GS) makes its peak power numbers about 750rpm higher than the 991 (RT) motor.
I hope that this helps! :D
