I am only getting 20-22 mpg on my se5. 1600miles, all stock except f1 slider windshield, drive only city in Fl., use 87 octane and do not drive it hard. I've seen others with similar model and conditions getting 30-35 mpg. What do you think is the problem

Don't know.
Have you had the steering update yet?
There's a software update to the Engine Control Unit as well and many people get better milage after the update.
And while you're getting the update ask the mechanic about the milage.

I must say that the spyder is thirsty , I got 23 mpg on my maunual , it was at high speed ( 160 km/h ). My GTR 1400 gives me 33 mpg at the same speed.

I just returned from a 1,500 mile trip, most of which was at speeds of 60 - 70 mph. I checked several tanks and came up with an average of around 32 mpg. (US gallons) Yes, I did a few warp drive passes, which I'm sure drank a bit of additional fuel.

I have the 19" Cee Bailey windshield, and Can Am/GIVI bags, and I also carry (against the wagging fingers of BRP) a huge waterproof bag strapped over the rear of the saddle.

I have an 09 SE5, it doesn't get the best mileage either, mine has the Hindle exhaust, Green air filter and MMG cool air intake, on average, I get approx. 30 miles per gallon and I have had the update with about 2100 miles on the odometer. I still have yet to get anywhere near 6 gallons of gas in the tank and I did run out once. You may want to increase the octane to 91 or better, it did improve my mileage, but not enough to justify the extra 20-30 cents a gallon. JMHO.
