If cable adjustment doesn't work. You can remove the parking brake lever and move it one spline at a time until you are able to get the proper adjustment. I've had to do this on my 08. The cable seems to stretch over time. Actually I need to adjust mine again. Hope this helps.I have an 08 spyder and it rolls even when i have on the parking brake and even with the column locked and in gear. l would like to avoid a dealer trip if I can any ideas
thanks,
lyco
There was a factory recall on the '08 models for problems with the parking break. You should be able to get it fixed at a dealer for no extra cost. We had our's replaced. There was also a recall on the steering computer system and our's was replaced as well for no charge. You might want to check with a dealer on getting both things fixed since they were factory recalls.

Wow! This really ticks me off now! I just traded in my used 2008 Spyder for a new 2012. The dealer deducted money from the trade in due to the fact that even with the parking brake was engaged you could still roll the bike. They obviously knew this was a recall issue but not sure why I should have been penalized for it with my trade in. Just another data point for this particular dealer...There was a factory recall on the '08 models for problems with the parking break. Before we take it too far, do you know whether the recall would have affected the issue? IOW, what is the recall and what is the issue with the brake? If the recall fixes X while the problem with your bike is Y, they might be justified. OTOH, if the recall fixes the problem, you might be justifiedWow! This really ticks me off now!
