Almost NO independent shops will touch a Spyder.
For that reason, the dealers have a virtual monopoly, thus the high prices.
That is free enterprise at work.
But keep asking around.
Maybe you will find an alternative in your area.
Almost NO independent shops will touch a Spyder.I have found the CanAm dealer in Bend OK but not more than that. I've found the place to be way overpriced on basic service.
The CanAm dealer up the road from me refused to look at my 2010 Spyder RT (clutch was shot) and told me to take it somewhere else (this is the place I bought it from). I did find an independent mechanic who worked on Spyders (his wife had one and so did several club members, he even bought BUDS to work on them). He took my Spyder in, took about 3 months to find parts and get the work done.I get it. Just read about an independent tech in the east who does, for example, brake fluid flush and replace for $175 and 2-3 hours. Others said their dealer charges $500-700 and bills for 5 hours.
Repair shops can do well charging only and arm; no need to ask for a leg too.
And where might this terrific individual be??The CanAm dealer up the road from me refused to look at my 2010 Spyder RT (clutch was shot) and told me to take it somewhere else (this is the place I bought it from).
