Kellyjean -- that's unfortunate because it points to the actuator (fairly cheap and easy to replace) or more likely the left hand control module (fairly expensive and easy to replace). The failure mode in the left hand module is pressing on the buttons and levers triggers tiny bubble switches which then result in CANBUS messages directing the engine and transmission to perform the commanded shift.
Apparently in your year-series there is a high rate of module failures. Your next step should be to investigate a replacement under warranty. Start with the BRP website so you will be informed when you talk to your dealer.
Yes, there was a service recall for the left hand control module for the 2018's. Had my done in 2018. Now that your Spyder is 5 year old, I doub that it could be replaced under warranty.
