Wife just bought a 2009 manual shift model with 12k miles in good condition. Located in Upstate South Carolina. Other than Demo-Rides its our first time riding it although we each have a wealth of 2 wheel experience over many brands of street bikes.

Congratulations.
People who have a "wealth of experience on 2 wheels" are the ones who are most likely to find steering
a Spyder to be an uncomfortable experience.
It's been discussed on here before.
My first bit of advice is to stay OUT of heavy traffic and OFF OF the freeways at high speed until you feel comfortable with it.
