I just picked up my Spyder SE last night and have a few questions. By way of introduction, I live in Pa., and was an avid scooter rider and belong to a scooter club. My wife rides a Honda silverwing with a trike kit add-on. The spyder intrigued from when I first saw it, even though prior to this I said I had no interest in a "motorcycle."

As I was riding and looking at adding my accessories, yesterday, a few things came to mind.

First, is there a way to move the handlebars up and back some. I guess I am used to the more upright riding position, and am not real comfortable, at this juncture, with the forward position. I am 5'11.

THe spyder came with a givi windscreen, and it seems to direct the wind right at my face. I see there is an accessory screen that is made for touring. Does anyone have any experience with it. Again, I suppose it is my scooter back ground talking.

Finally (for the moment), Is there any sort of Ram-MOunt for the spyder. I assumed the regular U-Bold mount would work, but it doesn't and I see no good place to mount my iphone(Nav and music), nor my chatterbox X1 bluetooth that my wife, the members, and I use to communicate.

Sorry to make my first post a "can you help me," but an "inquiring mind" needs to know.

Thanks, and I am glad there is a place to seek information.

I meant to add this

The "it is less than 4 letters, is not letting me search. How do you search the posts for things like a "RAM mount," or GPS since they are only 3 letters. I assume someone must have asked the Ram mount question before.

If you don't mind loosing the pretty plastic, you can take off the handle bar "cover" and underneath is a real handle bar you can use normal mounts....

Here is the Spyder Ram Mount, it goes out by the throttle:

What size kit do I need? I have all of the Ram mount items, but the standard U bolt is too small-at least the ones I have gotten from other products I bought for my now traded Honda Silverwing.

I was glad to see a forum that I could go to with questions.

Thanks

I bought the 5" pullback bars from KewlMetal. The have 4", 5" and 6". Give them a call and they can figure out which should be best for you.

I think I want a riser but...

The idea of cutting the bars makes me nervous. I am considering trying the short-no cut bars solution from Can-Am, though I think I need a 3inch rise(no nasty comments please!).

I will ride it for a while and figure it out.

I installed the risers now another question

I stil need to tweak the risers to get the correct adjustment. I bought the set from custom dynamcs, and tried them today. Unfortunately though better I now have pain just below my neck even though I do not feel like I am leaning much. I hope some fine tuning wil help.

The next issue is my knees. Any thoughts on a way to keep my legs from being so far back, I wish they had put the brake pedal 4-5 inches forward.

maybe I should I have spent the extra 6-7K and gotten the touring model.

I am working on the comfort

In addition to the bars, I added an adjustable wind screen (CHAD), a comfort seat and the Can-Am tank bag to make up for the lack of a glove box.

I am having a motorcycle friend add the ISCI boards, brake extension, and parking brake extension today.

Even with the approximately $2000.00 I spent on add-ons, I am still about $8,000 under the price of the RT. I did take another look at the RT A/C with the SE transmission and it is very nice, and probably worth the cost difference given the many nice features. However it was tough enough convincing my wife to let me spend the $15,000 I spent on the Spyder (one can not put a price on marital harmony!).

i have seen this center console that allows you to mount your gps and other things, this one has the web inlay, but i have also seen it without.

Black Widow Can Am Spyder Accessories

or the plain one

Black Widow Can Am Spyder Accessories

and there is this site, they have different handle bars that will work, but it you increase the rise you can not use the oem center console, you would have to change to one like the one above as well as possible having to change your cables.
