Hey I have a 2018 can am spyder F3, and it goes into limp mode if I'm running maxed out for longer than a minute or so.
I have to stop, cut the bike off for about 10 seconds, once I start it back up it's fine and I can be on my way like Nothing happened.
The bike is not overheating, and coolant is topped off.
It has happened a few times since I had it. I can max it out for about 30 sec, and back off and max it back out and do this repeatedly and it's fine, but if I'm running with my club I forgot and then I'm on the side of the road and now have to play catch up. So annoying, does anyone else have this problem or knows a fix for it.

What exactly do you mean by "Maxed out" ??
If you are in top gear and at redline, that would be about 110 MPH......give or take a little.

You need to find out what codes are set when that happens.
Might need to "create" the problem and then ride it to a dealer without shutting it off.
Does it REALLY go into limp mode.......or just say that and runs OK ??

Max out at about 120,not red line tho, rpm at about 5500. Cannot ride it to dealer literally when it goes into limp mode. I cannot go over 25mph.
When it happens I have to immediately pull over, because I lose all power until I get down to like 25 miles an hour.

So reading your posts your club rides do 120 mph........

If you stop after doing 120mph its ok , like nothing happened.

Why not try riding it to the dealer, and keep it under 120mph.

If it hurts when you do that........DON'T DO IT.

But something about this story still doesn't seem quite right.
My RT turns about 4500 RPM at ~75 MPH.
So it would be turning WAY more than 5500 at 120.

I suspect this is "normal" and you are just hitting a safety limiter that is supposed to do that.
Either a top speed limiter or the rev limiter.

Bottom line: Just stop being stupid. The Spyder wasn't designed or intended to go that fast.

Not necessarily Club rides but some of us in the club break out from the group, and push it wait for the group to catch up. Anyway I took it to the dealer already and they couldn't find anything wrong. They say I would have to bring it in on limp mode however, trying to recreate that is difficult I have had my bike since 2018 and it has only happened four or five times since then. Plus where the dealer is located state patrol be out in force soooo yeah no

Outside of your opinion, that I clearly do not care about. I'm just looking for a fix to the issue or if anyone has had this issue. The other spyders F3, RS or Ryker thar be right with me don't have the same issue they just kept going. I even think the RTs don't have the capability to keep up with us, hell in 75mph I'm still in 5th gear.
RTs usually the ones that lead the group because they drive slower. I'm the only one in the group of over 100 people that have this issue regardless.

When I get old and get a RT then I will stop, but I have a good 20 years before I get a one, I mean even on in our group all the RT riders are pushing 60 years old.
I'm in the fun years still, not the Cruiser years. So if you don't have a answer other than resorting to name calling. U can keep your opinion to yourself.

The "fix" is to quit being stupid and ride at reasonable speeds.
Don't like that opinion: Tuff. It is the truth.

Spyders are heavy on safety features. A rev limiter and top speed limiter are part of that design.
There is nothing wrong with your Spyder.
But there definitely is something wrong with it's rider.

Cheers. Hope your insurance is paid up.

Expand your search.
Some dealers likely will still work on them, at least that's what has been said.
Might want to contact CanAm BRP directly too.
This is a pathetic situation.

Does it really run bad like the speed is limited or is it just the light that is on ?

NOTE: I believe that this situation has been CREATED by BRP somewhat on purpose.
In the US, vehicle makes must make parts available for a minimum of 10 years but most parts are available longer than that.
BRP has elected to cut off supplying replacement parts exactly at 10 years.
I assume ALL parts that are not still used on newer models.
And the dealers have just followed the leader.

I have a 2011 RT that is in Limp mode as well. Had trouble finding a dealer to fix it. Was told that Can Am upgraded the dealers computers and now they cant work on anything older than 10 years. I found a dealer thatv told me they werent supposed to work on it but would. Had to trailer it 250 miles on way and waiting for them to call me back.

That might be only partly true.
IF.....the dealers knew that up front, they certainly could have KEPT THE OLD COMPUTER to work on the older machines.
And they don't need a computer connection to do oil changes and new tires.......just for instance.

Smdh know one else spyder does it, just mine therefore it's not me, but the bike. If you don't know a actual fix then just say that, u don't even know what your red line is, talking about 5500rpm at 75mph, yeah in 4th gear. Just Clueless🙄

Driving these trikes at very high speeds is definitely for the young at heart and pretty scary.

Did high numbers only once on every Goldwing when I bought a new one. Now older, wiser, and more cognizant of really how much damage will be inflicted from a high speed accident.

Driving at real high speed will not only make you miss the scenery, but you will probably become part of the scenery. 😱
