News Release 11/28/07

Foremost Insurance Signs New Deal with BRP

(Grand Rapids, MI) Foremost Insurance signed an agreement November 2 with Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) to be their preferred insurance carrier in the U.S.

Foremost's expertise in the specialty insurance market makes them a natural fit for the Canada-based holding company. BRP's top-selling brands include Ski-Doo® and Lynx™ snowmobiles , Sea-Doo® watercraft and sport boats, Evinrude® and Johnson® outboard engines, Rotax® engines and karts as well as Can-Am™ all-terrain vehicles and roadsters.

“We are pleased to be working alongside industry leaders like BRP,” says Randy Slotten, Director, Direct Marketing. “With our specialized insurance programs for all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, motorcycles, personal watercraft and boats, we can offer their customers quality insurance coverage that fits their individual situation. Foremost also offers attractive discounts in most areas, and an outstanding claims team that is specially trained to know recreational products,” says Slotten.

An exciting new product in BRP's Can-Am lineup is the Can-Am Spyder™ roadster, a three-wheeled vehicle that mixes the stance of an ATV with the sleekness of a motorcycle. It handles much more like a traditional motorcycle than other three-wheeled vehicles and is predicted to transform the market. Visit www.spyder.brp.com for more information and to see photos.

Foremost is an industry leader in specialty insurance. They offer programs for manufactured homes, landlord properties, motor homes, travel trailers, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, personal watercraft, boats and collectible autos. For more information, visit http://www.Foremost.com.

Thank you for the information.

I just got a quote from them.
I have had a hard time getting insurance companies to understand What the Spyder is, let alone how relatively safe it is, compared to regular motorcycles.

I figured that this "Foremost insurance company" would likely be the most knowledgeable insurance company out there with regard to the Spyder.
I hoped that their rates would be better than the rest.
Disappointingly this is not the case.

They were higher than most other companies I have checked with, And lower than only one, But not by much.

I am a pretty low risk.
Many years of motorcycle experience, Completed a motorcycle training class, No tickets or accidents on record.

It seems like the insurance companies can see us coming from a mile away, and they get their hands out early...

Foremost insurance-are you kidding?

I saw your post and contacted Foremost for a quote. They came back with $5221. A little steep I think. I am using Allstate which does not have a clue about anything they insure but at least it is under $1000. I guess Foremost would be proud to insure all of the Spyders at $5k a throw. Actually so would I.

Are you saying it cost $5221 a year for insurance on the Spyder - I have never heard of having to pay 1/3 the price of the vehicle just to insure it for a year. What are they thinking?

you might try calling Marc at Fischer Specialty Insurance. 877-537-2555. I had one online quote from State Farm, they wanted $11,500.00 a year to insure my wife and myself. I don't think I've had a ticket since the 70's.
Foremost huh?

I saw the Foremost thread also, so I called our local rep. She called me back with a $1550 a year quote. I commented that maybe Foremost doesn't really want to cover the vehicle. State Farm quoted me $550 a year. The lizard and progressive were both up around $800.

That is what they quoted. I went with the lizard for $800 which to me is still extraordinary.
I signed with Foremost back in June,2008 for $729.00 yr. That is with $100.000/$300,000 lia, $250.00 ded collision/comprehensive, uninsured and underinsured motorist, plus $3000.00 worth of coverage for accessories and actual replacement costs of protective riding gear in case of accident.
Sounds like Foremost had better get the act together! Multiple quotes in the range they are related sure isn't going to get them liked or used. I generally have found anything recommended by the maker doesn't always mean any saving by the user and for the most part means it will be higher than competitors services. I just added the coverage to my State Farm policy and cost around $650 a year for the full coverage noted above. Bill
That's wierd. I have been insurance shopping lately. I got a letter from AAPR ( NO LAUGHING!) from the Hartford to call and compare rates.Turns out the Hartford does not do bikes, and they refered me to Foremost for a quote on the bikes ( I also have a 1200 Bandit ). Diane at foremost quoted me $393 per year for BOTH bikes!
I think Foremost has got their act together finally. their rates are very favorable, and I am in Florida,, I saved $150 a year by going to Formost. My premium is less than $ 390 per year. ( does not include uninsured motorist. )
