I just wanted to share a few things I've learned working on spyders
Cooling system:
Spyders tend to run hot, at least out here in southern ca. it is normal for a gauge to reach full bars for the temp in traffic. If your bars rise all the way and the cooling fan is not operating, most likely the fan relay is bad. i have seen a few of these going bad. To verify, swap that relay with the headlight relay(same relay). Also, i have seen several spyders with people saying the engine overheat warning is coming on. Most cases, I have found the cooling system is fine. However after the unit is real hot and the cooling fan is on, the rider shuts it off before it cools down, this causes the cooling system to get extremely hot and bring the engine temp way above normal range. When the rider turns the unit on again, even after 5-10 minutes, now the unit is in limp mode with the engine overheat code being thrown. Just let the spyder cool down with the fan and then turn off and on the ignition. This should get rid of the fault codes. If you still feel there is something wrong, bring it to the dealer.
