Better don’t stay charged while riding

I have a 2011 spyder RT The battery is 12 months old (preserved a replacement today). Husband had battery out over winter, checked to make sure stay charged over winter, was duly charged when he put back in- anyway started it for the season over the wkend. Ran fine for about 15mins, parked it so I could go for a ride Monday. Started Monday and it died after about 5mins ( let warm up about 5 mins). Battery was drained so he put a maintainer on it last night. Showed full charge this morn. I disconnected and started it and let run a few mins then headed for town. Rode about 6.5miles turned off at the gas station and wouldn’t start again. So friend came and jump started it and was following me home. Dash lit up showing low battery about 2miles back home then flashed check oem? And died. So we just trailered it home. Any ideas on the problem? Any help appreciated! TIA!

Should have connected the "maintainer" over the winter.
Now your battery is probably toast.
Simply disconnecting a battery does virtually nothing in most cases.

Or there is a loose main cable.

The battery needs to be tested......and the connections.
Then the charging voltage needs to be checked while the engine is running.

I suspect that your battery just failed.
They don't follow a schedule.
Some fail early.

Thank you. We will see what the new battery does, should be here tomorrow according to fed ex. I’ll also have my hubby check the connections when installing the new one.
