2010 Can am Spyder RS: Color Change Question

i see the new spyder comes in all white...my girlfriend bought the black and silver from the dealer a few months ago and now wants the white plastics...is it possible to just order the plastics/fairings?? or is it a bad idea to trade her 08(only 300 miles) for a white 2010??

any info/advice would be greatly appreciated

People must just be shy

Replacement parts are available, but to my knowledge they are unpainted except for the "flat black" kit. It is not that big a deal to get the tupperware body pieces painted as they are all easily removable. This would be less costly then buying unpainted parts and getting them painted parts or getting a new Spyder (do to the depreciation hit she'll take). My guess is a 2010 would easily cost 2-3K more than the "new" '08 she just purchased. I see Spyder body sets on ebay all the time, usually being sold by folks that bought the flat black parts.

For example, right now there is a pair of fenders on Ebay for only $124.99:

used fenders

and a black kit for $750:

Phantom black body kit

This black kit would be very easy to paint whatever color you like, and you can get $500 +/- for the parts you'll take off.

I was wrong, you can buy the tupperware painted. I found the 2009 parts Here, but they are pretty expensive. In the "Body and Accessory Console" section, the central panel is $145.13 alone (plus shipping). Most of the parts are in the various Body and Accessory categories.

central panel:145.13
rear fender: $104.54
Rear tip: $50.83
hood: $217.29
Front facia: $50.83
LH Panel: $145.13
RH Panel: $145.13
front fender L: $174.24
front fender R: $174.24

= $!207.36...... and I'm sure there are a few more small pieces I missed.

This would still likely be cheaper then trading, I've seen low mileage '08s selling for 12 to 14 so maybe a dealer would do a good trade for hers since it only has 300 miles on it. My guess is it will still be about a $2000 dif, which means you could do better even buying all the parts and selling her old ones. Depending on where you live, painting the current parts could be the cheapest route. In my area, I could get it painted (If I brought the parts in) for about $500-$600

Side note, the front tire is showing as only $61.49!
