Is there any disadvantage to buying a new 2008 rather than a 2009. I know the first year had bugs, are they worked out and upgrades applied, or should one pay a little more for a 09 or a 10 for that matter?

No super-duper diffs...... mostly colors. You can actually still find a new or nearly new 08's once in a while, so it would still have a full or most of its warranty.
