Unhappy Left Rear LEDs

2016 RT-S: left rear running LEDs have only 3 inboard LEDs operating at normal intensity. The other 9(?) outboard LEDs are dim. All other functions of the tail light assembly are operating normally. Ie: brake lights, turn signal, back up lights.
Iíve checked all the connections which seem normal.
My question: can the LEDs fail like that? Have the LED light internal connections failed somehow causing a partial failure?
Tried to disassemble the tail light unit but it seems to be a sealed unit. Iíve ordered a replacement new tail light assembly from BRP.
Can anyone suggest anything to remedy the situation? Love my Spyder even though Iíve had to have a gear shaft spline pulley replaced (under warranty) 2 months ago with 30,000 miles on it.
TIA

Yes and yes.
Since you have already ordered a new one, why worry about it ??

Thanks. Always thought LEDs were indestructible. Lesson learned.

IF.....your area has converted to LEDs for the traffic lights, start looking at them a bit closer......and notice that the individual elements are failing at a fairly rapid rate. Or at least they are everywhere that I've been.

BUT automotive LEDs are fairly small and the "wiring" is fairly fragile too.
My guess is that about half the failures are due to bad assembly and vibrations.
