Audio/GPS

I own a 2018 Canam Spyder RT Ltd and have it 2 months now. I downloaded the BRP app and the Genius Map app also Rever app all on my IPhone 6s. Now when I try to set it up on my Spyder it does not work. The day I picked up my Spyder from the dealer I asked the service teck to help me set up theses apps and 3 of them worked for an hour. And they told me they had NO idea how to operate these apps. Can anyone help me out? When I start up my Spyder I get the FM stations but when I try and get the BRP with the joy stick it does not show up. Yes it is connected to my spyder by the cord and then the screen locked on my iPhone.

This is SOOOOOO sad.

The auto industry went through this about 20 years ago when they first started trying to integrate dashboard functions with smart phone apps and it took about 5 years to see any significant improvements. To this day, some phones don't work with some vehicles and the car maker and phone maker just points the finger at each other.

Keep putting pressure on your dealer.
If somebody needs to contact BRP for help, it should be THEM, not you.

The really sad part is that there might not BE a fix available right now.
A really LOT of owners of '18 models are having similar problems.

First off make sure the firmware on the bike is up to date. It should be version 13.20 which you can check by going to settings then About.

Also make sure the smartphone has the latest OS. Your phone needs to be unlocked or BRP Connect won't open. There is a new GPS app called Sygic which is easier to use but it also has a connection fee like Genius Maps does so it will work in the bike's dash. Once BRP Connect is on the dash the phone will show a black locked screen. Many mount the phone on top of the dash so it's more accessible. Lamonstergarage has brackets and extended cables. Youtube has a few videos and spyderlovers.com has quite a bit of discussion and doing a Google search will get you to links better than using the search on the forum.

To get a better handle on how the dash works you can down load the 2019 RTL owners manual and find it has much more info and instructions on how to use the dash.

The newest software for the dash is now 20.3. Supposedly you will be able to hear FM in the headset.

There is also another GPS called Sygic which is much easier to use.
Also ESR app is new. Eat, Sleep and Ride which is similar to Rever.

Just a note that the latest dash version is 20.8 and is a great improvement.
