x country trip ...

Iím planning a trip from mid Missouri to central California in early September on my 2015 F3S.
I plan to avoid as much interstate freeway as possible.. going west I will be just north of I-70 using mostly Hwy 24. Iíll be returning from Mesa, AZ using Hwy 54 that I will pick up in NM. I have a great drifter bag and also two Can Am hard saddle bags... so storage is not so much an issue. I have a rain suit, both a full face helmet and a held helmet, gloves, goggles, etc.
Genuinely interested in hearing comments, suggestions, or otherwise regarding this trip ..
Thank you in advance

Leave enough time in your schedule so that you do not HAVE to keep going when the weather gets bad.
When you encounter rain or high winds.....STOP until it passes.
Check the forecast the night before.

Better to arrive late than to arrive DEAD.

Exactly! Iím not on any schedule, so rain delays are no issue. I have no plans to ride when itís wet or when itís dark. Too old to prove anything.... ha ha
I do appreciate your input, thank you !!

Sounds like an awesome trip! I am going to be taking a long trip this summer as well. Plans are to start from Kansas City travel across parts of Kansas and Nebraska to Fort Collins, CO, then up to Yellowstone, then finally to the Deadwood 3 wheel rally then home after that. I'm planning on taking an extra qt of oil for my oil thirsty 2013 RT, a tire plug kit, air pump, rain gear, other assorted small tools, and clothing etc.

Hydration. Try to find a waist pack bladder. I recently bought one and secured to the tank on my RT and F3. Since you wear a full face the tube will easily go up the front of your helmet and you can easily stay hydrated in the heat.

Sounds like a great trip. I've done a few like that myself in the past.

I am in Payson Az. in the mountains 65 miles N.E. of Mesa. If you are interested in making a minor detour, let me know and we could meet up for some local riding. We have some great secondary roads around here.

Enjoy,
Dennis
