BRP called us today and informed us that they're having issues with the brakes on the Spyders. Soemthing about air in the lines or such. We were instructed to contact all owners and tell them to STOP USING THEIR UNIT until the problem is fixed. Contact your Spyder dealer and get the brakes bled. I called our customers and we're picking their units up and delivering them free of charge.

Strange that I just contacted my dealer here in CA and he has no "BRP Bulletin" or "phone call" stating this, so perhaps it is just in your area.

My dealer just called. They offered two explanations. #1 is that BRP as prototype units with 80-100,000 miles on them and they tore them down to see what parts wear and look for other problem areas. #2 found air in the brake lines. My dealer is picking my SPYDER up friday morning. They also said a BRP rep will be calling me to explain what is happening and what they found. I will post updates as I hear more.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CURRENT CAN-AM SPYDER OWNERS

Dear Can-Am Spyder roadster owner:

We have an important safety message regarding your Can-Am Spyder Roadster.

If you have already taken delivery of your Spyder and have not already talked to your dealer about this matter, it is very important that you read this message.

We are communicating this information to you because before delivery to their customers, a few dealers recently found four vehicles that had a problem with their brakes. What happened was that when the dealer pressed the brake pedal, the brakes didn't work and the pedal went right to the bottom of the stroke while the vehicle was at rest. This would obviously be unsafe if it occurred while riding.

The problem is caused by air bubbles in the brake system. We've determined that there may be a possibility that some vehicles have been delivered with air in the brake system. In order to ensure that your safety is not compromised, we want to get your vehicle into the shop as soon as possible to perform the repair procedure to make sure your brake system is functioning normally.

So please contact your dealer as soon as possible, and please do not try to operate the vehicle or drive it to the dealership.

We will take prompt and courteous care of your product while minimizing inconvenience for you. All of this will be done at no charge to you, so please do not try to have this brake work completed by anyone else than your authorized Spyder dealer.

If you have not yet taken delivery of your Spyder, your dealer will perform the repair before you take delivery.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Once your unit is repaired, we wish you many pleasant miles aboard your new Can-Am Spyder roadster. We value your business and participation in the Spyder roadster community.

Did the bulletin say what serial #s needed to be checked, or all made before Friday? It could take up to 5 hrs for the big bleeding!! I have #456

From what I understand, they do not bleed all the units. They are computer checked for holding proper pressure and are only bled if there is a problem.

It depends on the model. Model A18G includes 456, A18H does not, A18K does not, and A18M does not. So if yours is an A18G model, it needs to be done

This is true. Its hooked to B.U.D.S. and the pressure is checked, if it does not hold 508psi, it needs to be bled
