Just to educate anyone who cares. The spyders run very rich when cold. Snapping the throttle quickly can cause the engine to stall and foul a plug. If ridden cold, the spyder will hesitate and potentially stall when coming to a stop.
Be sure the engine is fully warmed up to help prevent any issues. I like to let the temp gauge read 3 bars.

Wait a minute I thought fuel injection was an answer to fouling from a choke being too rich you are saying that it is a problem? I get hesitation but have no other problems riding from cold to 3 bars on the guage. I have always done this with any vehicle that is injected non-diesel and had no problems. What gives? Bill

Most F.I.vehicles aren't as sensitive as the spyder. they are just mapped very rich when cold. even during the demo rides at our shop, i found the can am reps replacing the spark plugs multiple times. maybe as next year models appear, they will adjust the mixture?

Unfortunately there are so few of these on the road that no one has taken it upon themselves to do any flashable tuning. There would be very few techs, if any, that would have the factory mapping available to use as a baseline.

The Predator and SCT tuners we use on cars have adjustable parameters. I can add timing, fuel, as well as gearing, limiters, etc.

It would be nothing to adjust the fuel and timing on these if we simply had access to the base maps. The machines already have an OBD port.

C'mon, someone.....crack some codes.

I am not so sure the crack codes is what you need. You need the brp spyder software as well. Now if you can get the software I am sure there are many that would like to share with you.

Personally I never ride unless there are 2 bars on the gauge if it is warm/hot outside, or three bars if it is cold. Seems to always make it smooth.

Yes, whenever I tried riding the spyder cold (under two bars), it stalled. I learned my lesson quickly. The problem I am having is when getting too hot, close to the top of the guage. Idle will be very high, 1800-2200rpm and sometimes hesitate when shifting into 3rd gear. I will be having my 600 mile service this week. I have already brought it in once before but the service tech said that he could not reproduce my symptoms. Anyone else have this??

Those are my symptoms exactly.Add some stalling in when comming to a stop.What I am a bit dissapointed in is.......Mine surges at idle and can shoot you out into an intersection.Very dangerous.This is all heat related .Somebodies going to get hurt and the two dealerships i use dont care and Bombardier wont acknowledge for me

Mine too! It just started a couple of weeks ago, it seems to be running hot ( 4 bars ). It is fine until warmed up. I have removed and cleaned the plugs and checked the gap...no help! At about 4500rpm it finally kicks in.... watch out don't get caught off guard. I am thinking that the plug wires may get too hot... only inches above the exhaust?

I have noticed that when I am sitting at a light in traffic, if the cooling fan kicks in the RPM does come up to about 1800-2000. That might be what you are seeing.

The problem that I am having is when the engine is hot and I go to leave the light as soon as I let the clutch out it dies....
