BE CAREFUL... There is a very specific technique for checking the oil level and getting it correct during changes...
I've heard that lots of folks use AMSOIL; but I'm sticking with BRP oil///What came in the bike!
Talk to your dealer about their best method for checking the oil level; it's easier to hear it than read it in the manual!

Make sure that you follow the oil check procedures in the owners manual. The Rotax engine is a dry sump oil system and will look really low on oil if you don't check it correctly. For my RT it is on page 122 of the owners manual.

I have a downloaded version of the OM that I pulled off the Can-Am website. It is probably the same procedure. It says to get the bike up to operating temperature first, which may be a bit of a challenge for me since it is going to only be 30F here for a while. I went for about 60 miles last Saturday on it, but felt like a dork wearing my snowmobile outfit while crusing around. I found one of the OEM oil change kits online for $76, which is on the way. I'll ferrit through that when it gets here and get it changed out ASAP.

So here is a quick update: Got the oil change kit in and changed the oil a couple weeks ago. I was only able to drain like 2.5 quarts of oil out, which means the system wa about 2 quarts low. Not a good thing. Filled it back up and have been running it the past few days now that it has warmed up, and it shifts wayyyy better. I don't even feel the upshifts under throttle. The downshifts are much smoother, but the 3 -> 2 shift is still harsher than the rest. Don't know what to think about that, but it seems to run good and fast.
