Default 2010 RT Power steering problems

My 2010 RT (Semi-auto) has intermittent failures of the Power steering unit. BRP has replaced the DPS unit, the steering position sensor and the accompanying magnet. Although it works better than before repairs, the problem persists. You can never depend that the unit will work in the next turn.

Has anyione else had a similar problem and what (if anything) finally solved the issue. Your response will be appreciated.

I was getting DPS errors and Limp Home mode that the dealer could not diagnose. I increased the tire pressure in the front from 14.5 to 20PSI and the problem went away. I think soft sidewalls were triggering errors in the DPS. No problem now for over 3,000 miles after increasing the pressure. Rides like it's on rails now. No more sawing motion in the sweepers.

Also, make sure that the front tires are within 0.5PSI of each other.

Dave is right; Tire pressures are pretty critical...
But this sounds as if another trip to the dealer is in order! You dont' want the DPS failing in a crucial moment!

Default Steering Problems

I too have had a similar problem even after the recall which saw a new steering pump fitted. The Bike has been with the dealers for five weeks and I understand that the original replacement pump may have been at fault and another is to be fitted.

I will keep you posted on the outcome

I have had an issue, where the steering seems to 'stick' and you have to fight it to turn, is this the same problem others have experienced?

I'll check my tyre pressures on the way home..

What's this about a recall?

That was what the recall was for (power steering seems to stick). You probably should contact your nearest dealer as this should have been done a long time ago.
