I have found the same thing with my SE5. The idle is high and it creeps forward. I have found that putting it into Neutral will make the engine reduce it's rpm fairly quickly and it seems to fix the problem while it is running. I don't seem to have the issue when I am warmed up to 3 or 4 bars (temperature)

I had the clutch rollers replaced by my dealer all done under warrenty. I have not had the problem since so hopefully the sticky blippers/clutch rollers was the problem and the replacement ones ar ehopefully the solution.

Default accelerating from a stop with no throttle applied.

I read your post, and noticed it was in 2008 (!!) I'm continuing to have the accelerating from a stop with no throttle applied problem with my 2008 SE5, and have read that there's a recall on this? I was never notified. Do you know anything about it? People seem to be having clutch rollers replaced as well...would this solve it? Mine will jump to 18MPH if I don't STAND on the brake!! Scary!
Thanks for your help!

Default MY 2008 SE5 does it too.

I've had my SE5 for about 3 weeks and noticed it right away. Sometimes, when I stop at a light (flat surface) I can release the brake and the bike doesn't move. However on many occasions, If I don't hold down the brake my bike starts to move pretty quickly. I've done a few "tests" and have stopped with no one in front of me and released the brake... my bike will go up to 15 MPH with out any acceleration.

Thumbs up

I'm hoping that this problem is one of the issues that BRP has resolved with their new 2011 line up. Only time will tell if BRP's done its homework regarding issues with their Spyders that were brought up in ALL the Spyder boards, including Facebook.

Just bought a 2010 RS SE5 a few weeks ago and took it south to the Florida Keys. Stop and go traffic the bike ran warm and started idling faster, 2200 RPM. We also had a vibration around 45 to 50 MPH. When we took the bike to the dealer in Knoxville, TN they still have the bike two weeks later. The front wheel hubs were bad, the Rigyht front tires was out of round, the clutch was burnt up and they nor Can-am no why it Idles to fast when it gets warmed up. less than 500 miles on the bike and I'm thinking I should of bought another Harley. We contacted Can-am through the web site, recived a automated responce than someone would contact us. Daaaa.... It's a week later and no contact with any one but the dealer tech.

We are new to the Spyder bike scene, add have looked for help on this and other web sites and see the same problem, over and over. Recalls, poor workmanship, and a inability to correct problems on there bikes spell trouble for any current or future Spyder owner. I certainly would not by a SE model, the manul shift would be the only way to go.

Broke down and waiting for more parts and more Can-am techs, winter is coming soon, they already got my money, this sucks.

Man, I sure feel your frustration! As much as I hate to say this; try to give them a chance to figure it all out. They don't make tires, and probably sub- out the hub manufacure as well. I've seen mention of sticking parts in the clutch...(Look at some of the previous posts here) Extra load on the motor if something is hanging up might make it try to raise RPMs maybe... (I am NOT a mechanic!!!)
Pleasee don't give up too quickly... my son is shopping for an RS in Florida and will no doubt get a bike with levers on the left... I did see for 2011 that they changed some stuff in the RS models to quell vibrations; ask you dealer if perhaps a trofit is in order???
Good luck, and please keep us posted!
