Still waiting for a new battery after 11 days. The dealer determined that part of my melt down problems were related to a bad battery. Since the battery is covered as a warranty item, it must be replaced by a Can Am battery. Not a normal dealer stocked item, they only stock after market batteries. Sigh.
Also BRP identified a bad switch, that the service manger never seems to know which one exactly, that needed to be replaced. That part came in and was replaced already.

I'm sorry to hear that it's been 11 days Dave! That seems to be just a bit too long... Tell them to pull one out of a showroom model???

So I left for Las Vegas for the weekend on the 1st. The dealer called to report that they were done with the bike right as I pulled into the parking lot of the resort! Big F'n SIGH.
Just got back today and will pick up the bike tomorrow. I'll post what the problems were according to the service ticket. Still not sure what switch went bad along with the battery.

Turns out that during the manufacture process, the wire bundle for the multi-function switch on the left side was crushed. It seems that the wires "worked" enough to pass the post manufacture inspection, but as time/miles passed it got worse until my meltdown.
After the new switch was installed, everything seems to work fine now. Interestingly enough, I can now start the bike without having to apply the foot brake as long as the parking brake is set. Before, I had to have the foot brake applied every time I started the bike. Must have been related to the crushed wire bundle.

Started a scheduled 340 mile ride today at 6AM. On the return trip the brake lights started flashing intermittently. This caused the cruise control to stop working. I thought no problem. After a quick pitstop at the local rest area, the bike would not go into reverse. I was able to manage and start home again. After another 10 miles, the DPS light lit, then the check engine and check transmission lights! It was getting worse. Tried to do a stop/start reset. The engine would start, but the electric shift stopped working. Only option was neutral. Good thing the off ramp was down hill and I was able to coast off the highway to a safe spot. Called the dealer who said, bring it in, we'll take a look, but its up to you to get it here. Called the local tow truck that said $325!
Well, after $325 to the tow company and my wife picking me up at the dealer, I can't help but wonder why a $28k bike needs to be towed after less than 3,000 miles and why the owner has to foot the bill. I'm looking forward to contacting Can Am Monday to see what reason they have to give for my question. I will be sure to tell my friends and family about the wisdom of buying a $28k bike when I am done dealing with Can Am.
"Start/Stop/Reset"?
Dear God, is this thing running Windows 7? We used to joke about this, your car/motorcycle/whatever just dying for no good reason, and you would have to coast to the berm, and you'd have to shut it down, wait 30 seconds, then boot it back up for no apparent reason.
Does the windscreen turn blue when this problems occurs ?
Too many time I read this kind of a posting on all three forum, the bottom line is BRP does not care about there customers they get your money and it's bye bye you are on your own leave us alone. Spyders are selling fast so till there sales drop or there is another similar competitor out these they will do nothing to make sure the product is right and also take care of the customers.
I would disagree. There have been several reports of a BRP customer service rep named Carlo calling the forum posters at home about issues after reading about their troubles on the forums.
Wednesday my wife and I left Bradenton for Franklin NC pull a 622 trailer. Stopped at about 100 miles to eat and get gas. When I restarted I immediately got an engine failure and no gear or throttle response, finally got it in gear to clear the pump and coasted to a stop. I too tried to restart but the same light came on. Called my dealer in Bradenton and he sent a truck and trailer to pick us up. Mean while we went into Denny's and killed two hours for the truck arrival. Just as a whem I started thr bike and got no code and the bike ran fine. I still had the bike towed to the dealership. The next day they called me, no stored codes. I picked up the bike and trailer and ran 100 miles on 75 at 73 mph. No problems, I carefully filled it brought it home and checked for codes finding none. We are going to try the trip again Monday, I now have AAA gold card any thers with the same issue?
