Cruise Control for Spyder

Does anyone have any experience with motorcycle cruise controls in general and ones that will work with the Spyder in particular.

The way I ride my bike it seems like this would be a nice feature if you are going to go any distance at all. I see a few mechanical drag ones that look like they might work for my purposes. There are some electronic (real) cruise controls but these require getting into the engine controls and I am not ready for that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here are a few options:

I have friends that have used the friction type. They are simple, but the downside is they do not maintain speed... you speed up going down hills, and slow down going up hills.

I had electronic cruise on my last Honda Goldwing, it was very nice... worked like my cars cruise.

It might be worth contacting these folks to see if they can do something for Can Am Spyder diameter grips/handle bars. My experience is a lot of these type people will work with owners of new "cycles" to develop their products.

Thank you for all of those leads.

My plan now is to buy a couple of the mechanical ones and see if I can adapt them to the Spyder. While I know they won't be as good they may be an 80% solution that I can live with

Additionally I will have to get in touch with one of the 'real' cruise control mfg and see if they are willing to install one on a Spyder.

I will keep at it and see how far I get before the weather clears and I just forget it and hit the road.

www.can-amtalk.com has an electronic cruise control install with pictures done recently.

My hubby installed the Audiovox on my Spyder. Cost for the unit was under $100, then there was the learning time for the install. Works great. Same unit Lamonster (Spyderlovers.com) has on his, but slightly different install.

Audiovox makes a cruise control that works extremely well on the Spyder. I recently installed one on my spyder and if I set it for 50 it stays at 50 not 49 or 51. The price for the unit is $83.00 really cheap and works well. Installation instructions are pretty straight foward.

I know it's quite long but thanks for the information you shared in this forum. I know it's quite a bother working with electronic cruise control. I already tried breakaway type and different kinds of cruise control kits. Hope it'll work fine.
