Default GloRyder Aluminum vs Chrome

So I tapped out on my Fusion kit and sent it back... The GloRyder seems to be an easy install and there are very explanatory videos to show just how to do it. I'm sold.

So my big question, what is the $25 difference between the chrome and aluminum housings? Is the only difference is that the aluminum won't rust?

Thanks for any info.

John

I just ordered the satin finish myself. They should be delivered next week.

Well then we're going to expect a full report on the installation process and the finished product...
Good luck with the install!

Ten minutes a side for YOU maybe...
I'd have to figure on at least three hours per side with a break in between for the obligatory run to the emergancy room to get patched up...
Plus a lunch break
A bottle of aspirin
two hours of chastising from the Missus...
All in all it'd probably keep my home entertained for an entire weekend...

Oh... you'd lose that bet for sure!
My typical project process starts like this:
Open box and grab the instructions
Read, re-read, re-re read continuously for about two days
Spend a half-day trying to find the needed tools
Go to Hardware store for the first batch of tools that I can't find...
Open up and unpack all parts
Promptly lose at least 2 washers a bolt and a bracket or two...
Waste two hours looking for them
Call the Missus; she finds them in 30 seconds...
Start following the instruction process exactly as written in the instructions...
AND THEN IT GETs UGLY...

It only takes about 10 minutes, assuming the disc slides into the wheel without issue. mine was slightly too big and got lodged. had to use a rubber mallet to bang it the rest of the way in.

So I installed my GloRyders today. I ended up taking the front wheels off so I could get the center caps off without having to damage them. The front lug nuts were tight enough I had to break out the impact driver to remove them! Shame on the dealer for putting them on much tighter than the 70-90ft/lbs that is recommended.

The install was easy enough following the instructions. Two observations though...
1. once the GloRyders are installed, they have to be taken off to access the lug nuts. Not much work, but I would take them off before taking the bike in for service that requires the front wheels be removed.
2. the satin finish really matches the RT Ltd wheels well.
