So if I am told by my dealer that I need to pay $200 plus labor to get the brakes to quite squeelng I should go along with that? I would have thought that would have been covered under the warranty. I was told when I bought it, 2,000 miles ago to give it some time and it would go away. Well, it didnt and I find it embarassing. Am I just being silly?
What exactly are they planning to do for that $200 (plus labor) in order to fix this issue? Gen 3 pads for the rear cost about $50, and it didn't cure the squealing; but it DID reduce it a lot...
It's just me; but i don't like the sound of what he's selling... You need to ask him more about it and INSIST on paperwork warrantying this work

If your Spyder is still under warranty you should not be out one red cent. Tell your dealer to call BRP to have it covered. That's what my dealer did and BRP covered it no questions asked.
You can apply a product to the back side of your pads called crc disc brake quiet. I did, it works quite well. A small bottle is about 3or4 dollars, at any auto parts store.

So I decided not to spend the $200 for the newer brake pads. When I picked it up and asked about what they had done with the brakes they said they did nothing. I needed to drive it at 70 mph and slam on the brakes and do this about 5 times. Excuse me! If this is what needed to be done then why did they not do this. They also told me that my spyder had the best brake pads available already on the bike. Well, then what were you trying to sell me for $200 which I really didnt get an answer. They told me that per Tech that is what needed to be done. I took the spyder since they have had it over a week and the weekend was going to be nice. I am sure they think that being a female I will give up on this. I truly do not believe the brakes should squeel and I should not have to do what they requested. I did have my husband try their suggestion which I must say did not work. He didnt go 70 but he was going 60. I did contact BRP and they told me to work with my dealer. Hummmmmmm, not much help there. Not sure where to go from here. I do know I dont like the attention I get from squeeling brakes.
I find it so weird hearing about all the "horror" stories of dealers who either have no idea of what they are doing or are trying to rip off their customers.
Where I live we have 1 dealer for the entire area, the nearest one is about 4 hour drive ( not counting the US ones ), our dealer and staff are super fun and freindly, they even put up with us coming in once a week to just say " Hi Honey We're Back !! " and so far none have dived for cover. And they even go along with us, no matter how busy they are or what kind of werid and wacky things we do and ask.
Our bike is sort of a R&D Project bike as they have never done anything like what we have done to ours. I have actually taught them stuff and show them things they never even thought of doing. We get a real nice discount on anything we buy, they have even brought in special order items fo all of us to take a look at then have sent them back because it's not what we were looking for.
I guess we are kind of spoiled in that regard. I hope you get your issues worked out, if not maybe try another dealer?

This product really does work, when I bought my spyder back in July I couldn't stand the squeeling brakes, and like you, I was embarrassed by it. I posted on this on spyderlovers and was told to get the Gen 3 pads, or try disc brake quiet. Why should I buy new pads when they only have 2k miles on them. I have a bottle of disc brake quiet already that I've used on car brakes, so I used it on spyder brakes. They aren't 100% quiet but pretty close. Any neighborhood motorcycle shop could do this for you as spyder brakes are very simple. Sometimes the cheap solution is the best. Good luck,,,,,,,,,coz

So they did nothing for the squealing brakes before delivery... If the bike was sold with an intact warranty; I'd take it back to them and tell them to contact BRP and fix it. No discussions or debates...
Now if the bike was sold used; does it come with some sort of limited warranty that exists for at least a brief time after the sale??

I had the same problem for quite some time. The dealer was very unhelpful and charged me to put upgraded pads on, but to no avail. I finally took my bike to a local shop and had them look at it. The shop found that the rear was out of alignment, and the parking break was not disengaging entirely.
Might give that a shot.
