Default CB Radio

Hello everyone: Brand new to all of this so please forgive mistakes or screw ups. Just purchased our new Spyder RT a couple of months ago and so far all is well. We are long time Goldwong riders. Would like comments on the CB/intercom. Thinking about having one installed over the winter layup but is it worth the big bucks. About the same cost as the Goldwing but sure haven't excited over the performance of that one. Not really concerned about the range, just the ease of use and clarity. Do you have to use the BRP headset? Larry O

well it depends.. if you want to talk to more than few on a blue tooth setup then it's what you need to have

I have been told mine is a bit staticy? so Burp gave me a new one under warrenty. but have not installed it yet and won't be able to try till next year as our season is over up here

I " think" you can use other sets but you need to have the proper plug in but not 100% sure as I use the Burp one

there is a couple of tricks one needs to know or you will be like me and dealer .. scrtaching ones head because the intercom system don't work. but just a couple of settings which seems backwards

You can use other headsets , I got mine from Sierra Electronics for quite a bit less than burp.

Controls are really fussy and like Paladin said ...some seemingly backwards and one setting I have no idea what it is and no one else either and not in any material. Get it tweaked and it works . If you're not worried about distance you'll be happy but the distance isn't much...maybe 300 yards .I was told that to increase the distance I need to put a better ground on the antenna , haven't done that yet. I loved the cb on my wing .

Thanks for the responses. One more question. On the Wing I can direct the sound to the headset or the speakers, can you direct the Spyder the same way or does the cb/intercom only come through the headset??

what setting is that? ....headset mode has a series of numbers from (-)0 to I think 100 and also + 0 to 100. Had mine at dealers for audio problems and when he saw what mine was set on( -25) he asked me why I had it there. Told him I had no idea why there other than it came that way. Asked him what it was for and he said he didn't know.Changing the range didn't seem to make any diff so I quit wondering about it.

werid .. mine has 0-50% and what i have found is that it increases the volume in the head set without actually turning it up.. i need to ask the wife if she ever noticed anything but the screen says front headset so i think only the driver noticess it..

for me it really cuts down the wind noise when we have the headsets hooked up

I think I've gone daft. Just went out and tried to bring up the same mode so I could be certain I was describing it right. I can't find it anywhere now , only the headset front percents and it only goes 0 - 50. I swear it was there before , HONEST ..LOL Anyhow the one we're now talking about seems to make no diff no matter what I do. Think I'll just take my meds and go to bed ....maybe the voices will go away.

lol

mine goes from zero to minus 50 amd zero to plus 50

it always resets to zero after you turn the bike off least mins does..

the +50 seems to not change the volume but just sends more signal to the head set

i found it really helps cut down the wind noise in my head.. hehe
