The Rotax 991 isn't the strongest below 5000rpm, but you've also got to remember that it weighs more than 2 of your R1s...

I would imagine that your R1 likes the pace ot be a bit more... interesting??? Think of your RT as the Recliner in your living room minus the TV and remote...

Default power

HI- I bought my RT last year and didn't ride much--- I was out a lot this weekend and just realized that the bike doesn't like to be shifted till above 5000 at least - for me that means that on the highway i am riding in 4th till i am above 65-- this is the first bike i remember doing that in--- but i do tend to shift before the RPMs get high---

You guys must be a lot younger than me...
I think that the RT has "enough" power down low. I rarely get mine above 4500rpm...
(55mph comes up at 4050rpm...)
I like to let the torque pull hard at lower rpms and I hope that it helps me get better fuel mileage. Right now I'm real steady between 35 and 38mpg...

Oh! You see; I always thought that an R1 was no Spyder!
