Cool 2010 RT (SM5) Oil

Hi there
I had my RT for about a week and liking it a lot. Looking at doing my oil changes in the future can I use AMSOIL 10W-40 in place of the rec. 5W-40.
Also, where can I get the oil filter?

Hiya Walter!
Welcome to our little playpen! Which model RT do you have?
Is Amsoil a straight synthetic or a blend of the old and new? If it's all Lab-created, I wouldn't start using it until the motor is completely, thoroughly and totally broken in...
Filters?? I've seen ttem on EBay, but the dealerships are probably the best bet for them. I don't know of any aftermarket filters; I'm sure that they exist, but I just haven't started looking yet...

i have heard of others using 10w40 but i would not recommend it... the 1st number is the starting viscosity so the 10W40 would be thicker on cold starts then the 5W40.

I purchased a box of Motul 5W40 full synth that will go in after my 600 mile oil is due. had the dealer put in BRP full syth at the 600 mile service.

but I was sure it was broken in before I did the 600 mile service...
