Did you order it? Was it one that was canceled by another buyer?
Is it the Demo (which the dealer is not supposed to sell until the "replacement" demo unit arrives)?
Just curious, because the dealer should not have a "floor plan" unit to sell
So far on E-Bay (most broad market indicator) people are not getting much more than that paid. high bid on last one was $18,850.00, about what the seller had in it if you include shipping, tax, titles fees, etc.
And this one, basically equal to what your dealer is asking.... $1250 (funny thing is he is making the buyer return his $1000 deposit after purchase, talk about no class ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other...spagenameZWDVW
There sure is no shortage of people trying to turn a quick buck selling their Spyders, typical for any new vehicle, but in this case, they seem to not be making much....
2 spyders are on the truck, and should arrive anyday. He had no one waiting for a yellow one. And I put a deposit on the next one available a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping to get a call tomorrow. I hope it is worth the extra
I have one spyder on hold, for this weekend, and the dealer wants $2000, extra for handing
Anyone else payed over cost??
welcome to california. i've contacted most of the southern california dealers and the mark-up ranges from $1200 to $3000. after i placed an order for two spyders in march and left a $5k deposit, i was told that the dealer was adding $2900 to the price for shipping/pdi. when i "questioned" them about this (including the fact that their labor rate is $80/hr and pdi takes 3 hours) they finally dropped it to $1900 per spyder. they then reminded me that i was very lucky to be able to get these spyders at any price. funny, when i gave them the deposit in march they didn't even know what the spyder was.

You'll get to enjoy it, so it will be worth it for you!
They sort of did something, um, improper.... all Spyders were "supposed" to be sold orders (i.e. a ordered by real end customers). Toward the end of the order period, Dealers were told they could take more (customer) orders (above their allocation) as the first run was not sold out. The assumption/scuttlebutt was this done was because not all dealers met their allocated sales.
If you look at other posts, folks that ordered Spyders are having to wait for them.... why? Partially because dealers did like this one bought one to mark up, while the customer that put down a deposit waits for theirs
The idea was individuals were to order Spyders. Oh well, best intentions of BRP seem to have been circumvented here, don't blame BRP on this one......
I'm curious, are the delivery charges different around the country, or are supposed to be the same (like they are for autos)?
as far as I know (I'm the service writer, not the salesman) we're not adding anything additional to the cost, just the standard frieght and such, but nothing extra like that

Brp will not let dealers charge over MSRP so they are getting additional dealer profit by boosting shipping and PDI. It is simply a case of supply and demand. If you don't want one right now, don't pay those prices but with the economy the way it is, you can't blame the dealers for trying to stay healthy.

Is the freight consistent dealer to dealer, or determined by how far the dealer is from the factory?
I was told by our salesman that our frieght is approx $400. Not sure what it is for other dealers. We're located in Barre ma, so distance wise its pretty far. But not as far as say FL.

When it comes to Automobile sales, the freight from the factory is the same if it is 1000 miles away or across the street. I don't know about imports from Canada. Maybe some honest dealer can shed some light on whether the freight varies or is one price.
