Has anyone tried putting dual sport, or knobby tires on a Spyder? Or is anything even available?
I am living in some rural areas of Texas and am pondering the feasibility of using a Spyder as a bit of a street legal workhorse that I can also put a rack on and haul stuff around the ranch and oil patch.
I've not seen any tires like the ones you're talking about for a Spyder. I'd be cautious using it as a farm workhorse specifically because of the increased chance of bumping it up and over something (large tree branch, boulder, etc.) and breaking the plastics. These guys are more for the streets than off-road.

Hi John! (also!)
There was a rider in Europe who put knobbies on his... Maybe from Austria???
Ground clearance would be the killer here... You'd always need more of it than you'd ever have!

I wish that I could find out more about it because it almost seems as if he's done some Tupperware trimming to gain some ground clearance...

It looks like there is quite a bit more clearance, think he put it on a rigorous diet also, the chain conversion & wheels had to shed a good bit of poundage....curious!

I ride on/off road BMW GS's in Mexico and divide my time between the border areas, the Texas Hill Country, and the oil fields. It would be great to have something with at least mild off road or dirt road abilities.
Aren't Spyder tires mostly auto tires instead of motorcycle tires? Are there mud and snow tires out there that will fit?
Regarding ground clearance: I had some custom Wilber's shocks made for a bike once that increased ground clearance. Would that work with a Spyder?
to me it seems silly to spend the kind of bucks these cost when one could spend less than half and buy a proper off road ATV
my opinion only

I would not eben try to go this route. The Spyder has a stability system that monitors each wheel. If you get in the dirt and spin a wheel the engine will be slowed down. If you get too crazy it will put the trike in limp mode. The Spyder is very sensitive and will not handle off road travel very well.
