RS: Thoughts on a gel seat cushion or a different seat
I've got the original seat on my RS and would like it to be a little more comfortable. There are places we'd like to ride that aren't within an hour of the house.
So I've been looking at gel seat cushion/covers this morning. The only ones I've seen that are made for Spyders are for the RT. Anyone have any idea where else I can look that might have something for the RS, or any feedback on one you already use?
OR, would a whole different seat be a better idea? Anyone have a different one they like that's comfy and not hard as a rock?
Thanks Gang!

Well, just searching through all the posts on the forum I found yours, Bob, about the Ultimate Spyder Seat. They do indeed make one for the RS... here's a link to their website:
Now I have to wonder if I'm of average height or short.............

I would base being short or average height on whether you feel you have to reach for the handlebars or if they feel good where they are. Another question, do you find yourself crowding the front of the seat?
Personally on my RT, I find myself sitting as far back as possible. I have been thinking of getting a seat that would push me back an inch or two.

Dave, I tend to scoot around on the seat a little bit. Sitting all the way back makes my hands/arms give me a little trouble, but scooting forward gives my knees trouble. Can't afford an RT at this point, so have to work with what I've got. Am looking into memory foam for the inside of the knee pads in my riding pants to alleviate that issue too.
Do you have a pic of the Daylong seat for an RS? If there is one on the website, Pal, I don't see it.... could have missed it while I was reading tho.

I know that Pal has had some issues with them; but check out Corbin...
And don't forget the BRP RS comfort seat...
Wait a minute! There's a guy in Florida... Let me go get his website address for you!

Sassapnts, maybe you would benefit from some bar risers that move the handlebars back some also. Then you could get the seat that is just a bit further back. Just a thought.

(I think that she's got some risers... I'm just not sure if they're still on the GS or not...)

Dave, I've got risers, just haven't gotten them installed to stay yet. The weather's been too warm to justify taking the handlebars apart, and just got the doodad insert that fills the hole where the riser leaves a void (for the plug-in and GPS ball) in the mail a day or two ago so hubby can help me with the install.
Bob, I've checked out your link, thanks for that! I've sent him an email with some questions. Will update when I hear back. Sounds promising, since he custom makes the seats to help with whatever physical qualifications you're dealing with. I've got a bad back and an uncooperative tailbone, so this may be the route to go.
Paladin, I think my husband has Russell seats on one of his bikes; unless they were on one he sold or that got sold... I forget. I'll ask him and see. Can't remember if they were comfy or not.
Corbin isn't my favorite. My husband has had them and I don't think they're comfortable at all.
