This year I bought my wife a 2008 Spyder that she loves. I love it too, but prefer my 2-wheeler. We store our bikes in a storage shed that has no electricity-- so no trickle charger. Will it cause a problem with a Can-Am to pull the battery? What I want to do is keep the battery in my basement so I can periodically trickle charge it through the winter, then put it back in the Spyder in the spring. Anyone with experience with this kind of situation? Thanks.
What with the sensitivity of Spyders to electrical disturbances, I would tend to agree with Bill. As I have gleaned from other forums, you are much better off leaving the battery where it is. Sounds like a solar charger might be a good idea. They are perfect for that long snooze trickle charge. The ones that can maintain float are a bit pricey. Looong extension cord?

I would run a long heavy duty extension cord to your shed and use a battery tender. Or better yet, run a permanent electric line to your shead with direct burial wire.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Unfortunately, the storage space I have is in one of those commercial storage businesses, with a locking garage door. I wouldn't want to leave a solar battery charger outside with the cord running into the storage space; I'd expect someone else to either bash it with their car, or even steal it. And I can't run electricity to my storage space. So, I guess I'll leave the battery where it is.
Which prompts another question: does anyone know if there's a way to jump a motorcycle, either from a car or from another motorcycle?
Thanks.
Is there a light bulb in your comm. shed If so take it out and screw in a plug adapter in and use a battery tender, even if the lights only work at night it should be enough to keep the battery up.
No, there isn't even a light bulb. And I checked with the owner, and they won't allow electricity in the storage bays-- risk of fire (so they say).
On a related note, does anyone know how to jump a motorcycle? Are there devices made that would allow one to do that?
