Removal

Remove clutch lever [1] from handlebar.
Remove right handle grip cap [2] from handlebar.

Loosen throttle housing screws [3].
Slide throttle housing outward to ensure that
handlebar cover is free to move.
– Do not remove throttle housing from handlebar.
Slide handlebar collar [4] outward to ensure that
handlebar cover is free to move.

From underneath handlebar cover, remove 4 upper
screws [5] and 2 lower screws [6] that hold ignition
switch cover [7].
Remove ignition switch cover [7] from vehicle.

From underneath handlebar cover, remove 2 middle
screws [8] that hold handlebar cover.

Lift up handlebar cover and lay it gently on the
vehicle.
– Do not remove handlebar cover from vehicle.
NOTE: Make sure to secure handlebar cover on
the vehicle in order to avoid any tension in ignition
switch cables and wires.
NOTE: To prevent damaging of handlebar cover
or vehicle panels, place a cushioned pad between
those parts.

Remove the 3 hub screws.
– Discard hub screws.
Remove hub plate.
Remove handlebar from hub and lay it gently on
the vehicle.
NOTE: Make sure to secure handlebar on the
vehicle in order to avoid any tension in hoses,
cables and wires.
NOTE: To prevent damaging of handlebar or
vehicle panels, place a cushioned pad between
those parts.
Remove hub central nut [9] and washer [10].
– Discard hub nut.
– Keep washer for re-use.

Remove existing hub from vehicle using a puller
[11].
NOTE: Make sure that puller is properly installed
to avoid steering threads damage.

Installation

Install riser block [P1] on steering column.
NOTE: To prevent steering column damage, use
a rubber mallet to insert riser block on steering
column.
CAUTION: Do not use M10 nut to push riser
block on steering column.
Install washer [10] on steering column.
Install M10 nut [P3] on steering column.
Secure M10 nut [P3] to 26 – 32 N•m (19 – 24 lbf•ft)
NOTE: To prevent steering column damage, do not
exceed 32 N•m (24 lbf•ft). Do not use antiseize
and/or loctite on M10 nut.

Install handlebar on riser block.
Install hub plate [12].
Install hub screws [P2].
NOTE: Make sure that handlebar is centered with
vehicle hub.
Completely tighten rear hub screw.
Tighten front hub screws just enough to generate
slight tension on handlebar.
NOTE: For the moment, the handlebar must be
able to move with a slight rotating force. This
procedure is necessary to make a good adjustment
with handlebar cover.

Align handlebar cover [14] on hub plate [12].
Make sure that handlebar cover is completely
seated on hub plate [17].
Slightly rotate handlebar to create a little gap
between handlebar cover and handlebar end [15].
Remove handlebar cover from handlebar plate.
Secure hub screws [P2] to 21–28 N•m
(15–21 lbf•ft).
Re-install handlebar cover [14] on hub plate [12].
Tighten handlebar cover screws.
NOTE: Make sure to use the front holes of hub
plate to install handlebar cover screws.
Re-install ignition switch cover on vehicle.
Re-install handlebar collar.
Re-install throttle housing on handlebar.
Secure throttle housing screws.
Re-install right handle grip cap on handlebar.
Re-install clutch lever on handlebar.
Secure clutch lever screws.
Inspection
Make sure that handlebar and riser block are
properly tightened by pulling up and pushing down
the handles several times.
Turn handlebar completely from one side to the
other making sure it does not exert a unwanted
tension on throttle cable, clutch hose, and other
wires.
