Within a few miles of our house is Historic Route 66 - what's left of the original, and the replacement that's used regularly. I'd had enough of work and took a vacation day not long ago, and headed on up. Took a few pics... in the background of the first pic is the replacement road that's used today. The second and third pics are the original road:

Not sure - there are quite a few miles of original road alongside the newer version of Route 66, but not for regular traffic. All of the road in the pics was not ridden by me, I only made it as far as the first curve so I could turn around. It may sound strange to you guys, but it was like traveling back in history for me to put my wheels across some of the original road. My husband is a bit perplexed with my infatuation with Route 66... not so many curves, but I just love riding it!!!

I'm tickled with it being so close, Bob! Will take more pics as we go along and give you a view of what we see. There are quite a few miles that still have the original road peeking through, running next to the replacement road. We don't get to ride as often as I'd like, but now that the temperatures have cooled down some, perhaps we'll get some extra riding time in!!

I bought my Spyder in March of this year, Jeff, so haven't been to a Spyderfest yet. With it being so close, my husband and I have already touched this base. Will know more when we get closer - depends on his job(s) and what's going on at the time, but would love to meet up with more Spyder riders!!

Max, that's a wonderful ride to make! It will take you from Northern US down to the South and then West to California... suggest you take lots of pics, stop in small towns along the Route and talk to the people at the restaurants and shops - they'll have great stories! - and holler when you get to Oklahoma, we're just West of Oklahoma City and I'd love to meet up and visit for a spell!!! When do you plan to take your trip?

That sounds really cool.We live in Mn would be a trip to get there. We are planning a trip to the north shore of Lake Superior.the leaves turn colors in October.
Gar, we have to ride about 4 hours to get to where the leaves change colors. We plan to do it, hopefully this year though it may have to wait until next. Your trip sounds wonderful!! Take pics, please!
Galv, you're welcome, glad you enjoyed!!!
