Default please help, stalling

my 2008 spyder is running very hot and now it is stalling when I downshift to 1st gear. had the recalls done, and put on the missing air dam, the missing heat sheild and also the missing air managment system. This really only seems to happen in the very hot and humid weather, so far. i have tried the exhust tape and it is still hot, I am not sure how the plastic sides have not melted yet. Please help. When it stalls you see the little "squilgy" picture and the VSS starts to come on, so I shut it off and I am fine. Again please if anyone can help me please do. I love my spyder and I have 9100 miles on it. Thanks

Well I have nearly 600 miles on my RT SE5 and had the last update done. It did nothing for my staling issues. Just when I think maybe its running ok it stalls, coming into a stop in 1st or just idling. Today it stalled making a left turn into a driveway. Has nothing to do with octane rating as I can't think of anything technical where it would.

With as many people having this issue mine is not a isolated case. Nobody has a clue whats going on but I suspect its in the fuel mapping or in the throttle bodies. Another clue, I can sense a surging at a steady rpm below 3000 and think its related.

Surging is common on V-Twin motors at low RPMs going a constant slow speeds. On my old Aprilia with the V990 engine it would surge quite a bit if I was not careful. Usually speeding up or slowing down a little will take care of it. These engines love to rev. Don't worry about running them at the higher RPMs, the love to scream!

Same issue with my 2008. I just got the bike 2 week earlier. Sitting in traffic is the worst, my leg burns so bad there is a mark. My husband taped it, and still nothing. The dealer told me to purchase a fan, but I find that to be ridicules especially since I just got it and brought the extended warranty. Anyway, I would not be the least suprised if Can Am gets hit with a class action suite.

As far as the heat issues go, check the missing air dam and air management kit from Home - Spyderpops.com
