We now have our spyder back and I do believe the new DPS unit does make a difference. In addition the Spyder bay addition to our garage is done so the MR2 gets to come back inside.
That's great news!
So how did "Mister Deuce" put up with being locked outdoors?

My poor MR2 Spyder didn't like being left outside. That was the first time since we bought it 8 years ago. I figured it would handle it better than the Can Am though. I plan on treating it to a full out detail job once the weather gets a bit better.
The dealer said that I wouldn't notice any change in the steering on the Can Am and maybe it is all in my head but it seemed to me that it tracks better and feels more solid in the corners. I noticed it right away but then again the dealer said it was just a safety issue not a handling issue.
I noticed a HUGE difference in mine... In fact the vast majority of riders report improvements in the feel of the system. (I've only spoken to 2 folks who didn't notice much...)
So you're kind of collecting Spyders there in your driveway... Nice car and GREAT bike!

Newbie here, as I just received my Spyder last week.
Is there anyway to find out if the dealer has already replaced the DPS before they sold it to me, other than believing what they said? Will it look different in anyway, or maybe some serial numbers or part numbers that I can validate? I am just worried that they are lying to me and saving themselves some trouble and effort on the free service that they had to do for me.

Many thanks!
As I understand it the DPS has to be done before the dealer can let the Spyder out the door. When the recall started many people were upset because some dealers were replacing the DPS on their in stock bikes before they were doing customer bikes.

I bought a used 2009 spyder from a Broward County dealer the bike had 3000 miles. After about a month of using it began to get the check dps and limp home mode notification. The dealer claims as so does BRP that the unit was replaced under the recall in late 2010. Two weeks ago I took the bike to the dealer for an oil change and informed them of the DPS problem. They told me they will remove the codes and the bike should work fine. It did for about a week. Now I get the check dps code with the engine light. The stering is very hard and it is very difficult to drive the bike. Any body has had similar problems?? Should this issue be part of the recall also? BRP tells me to take the bike to the dealer and see whats wrong. They will not confirm or deny that it should be part of the recall. The dealers wants 50 dollars an hour just to diagnose the problem. Need suggestions on what to do.
